Teeming with first-generation institutional learners amidst economic hardships, the cultural aspirations of our local youth often end prematurely. They oscillate between dream and disappointment. The Society in a bid to break the ennui, embarked on a one day trip to the Indian Museum and Kolkata Book Fair on 1st February, 2020. The unbridled and wide eyed euphony of the students was unprecedented. Like inveterate bibliophiles they browsed and also bought some quality books. The entire outing provided our young readers a new horizon and oodles of confidence.

Environmental degradation is detrimental and is jeopardising the long-term health and security of animals, plants and humans. The single most important thing that environmental awareness does, is to inform people of the dangers of continuing to consume as much as we currently do. This is because people need a good understanding of the threats to our earth, to
fully realise the scale of harm. Consequently, awareness is all about topics like environmental health, sustainable development and global warming.
PLANTATION ON RARE MEDICAL PLANTS
Medicinal plants are globally valuable sources of herbal products, and they are disappearing at a high speed. This article reviews global trends, developments and prospects for the strategies and methodologies concerning the conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plant resources to provide a reliable reference for the conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants. We emphasized that both conservation strategies (e.g. in situ and ex situ conservation and cultivation practices) and resource management (e.g. good agricultural practices and sustainable use solutions) should be adequately taken into account for the sustainable use of medicinal plant resources. We recommend that biotechnical approaches (e.g. tissue culture, micropropagation, synthetic seed technology, and molecular marker-based approaches) should be applied to improve yield and modify the potency of medicinal plants.
